Instrument Cluster Removal
Removing The Instrument Cluster
Start by removing the three air vents in the main section of the dash, do this by placing a flat bladed screw driver down the side of the vent and carefully prising it out, repeat with the remaining two.
Above the instrument cluster in the main dash there are three torx screws, ideally using a stubby screw driver remove these, release the steering wheel column and move towards you and down to give maximum room to remove dash, grip the dash in the spaces created by the air vents and pull towards you, you may need a slight upward twisting action to help angle it out with the rear vent housings.
Remove the four torx screws higlighted in the image above then pull the cluster forward starting from the top, the two top screw brackets may catch on the main dash, angle these down and pull forwards.
(Car shown Early-2001 Non-Multiplex)
On the cable connectors push down the tabs and slide the release mechanism across to release from the socket, on a Mulitplexed D9 there will be only one connector.
To separate the dash front panel turn it over and release the clips as highlighted in image about, should be able to release with your fingers, otherwise use a flat bladed screwdriver. (D9 Mulitplex clusters have different housings, but should separate in similar fashion)
Assembly and refitting is as above in reverse.
